Before I came to Korea, this website gave me so much helpful information, I've wound up telling people who've lived in Korea for years about their working rights, how to do things, etc.

You guys have been really great. Even the people who call me an asshat, a troll, an idiot, etc.--you're good people.

But I think a lot of you are very tense and stressed out from a mixture of being overworked/underpaid, feeling alienated in a strange (f'in bizarre, really) culture, and generally tired from life.

I also think a lot of you--the apologists--are very sensitive people who want people to get along, so you get angry at those who seem racist, ignorant, and insensitive to you. Maybe some of you are kyopos who think that they're being insulted alongside the Koreans, although I assure you that that is far from the truth in most, if not all cases, on this board.

So what am I saying? Try to relax, people. Laugh things off, if you can. Teaching in Korea is a bizarre and interesting experience; the good stuff and the bad should be enjoyed as parts of what it means to be alive and free.

And please, apologists and Korea-bashers (or whatever terms you prefer), stop flaming each other. It's all just a bit of fun and a bit of a laugh.

Good advice.

Stess is normal. Daily rants don't need to be. Though the occasional one from someone who has really been though a rough time can be a good release.

If there was a quote of the week thread, that'd be my choice for number 1 this week. However, it is only Thursday.

I agree. Lately this board has been tenser than a long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs.

I agree. It's funny that stating an opinion on here can get so blown up to monumental proportions. I've never in my life been called pc except on Dave's. As a matter of fact I'm probably the only person that owns not one but two "a woman's place is on my face" t-shirts to ever be called pc.
