Hey all, thought I'd let the fellow Brits know something to save you all some time with the E2 visa process.
If you use Disclosure Scotland, which in my experience took 2 weeks, ask them to stamp the disclosure and have Brian Gorman or some other head sign it on their stamp.
This acts as a notary, so no need to get a seperate signature & stamp and have to pay for it. They dont charge for doing this.
I sent mine off for apostille and had it returned completed no probs. |

Yeah, I got a disclosure online.
I phoned them and asked if they notarise it, they said they can stamp it and have a head of Disclosure sign it - works same as a notary public.
Therefore no need to take your disclosure to a solictitor and pay the fee for them to notarise it. Just send it to Embassy for apostille and works fine! |

Before you can get an apostille the disclosure needs to be notarised. There are people next door to the embassy who can do it but you will have to pay for them to do it.
Just thought Id mention that disclosure scotland can do the notary free of charge. Ive not got anything else notarised or apostilled, you would only have to get it done on a copy of your degree if you didnt want to send the original.
Been told that transcripts need to be within 3 months old, anyone know if this is true?? |

The solicitors next door (to the FCO) do a notary for 5GBP.
I think transcripts can only be 3 months old, but the stamp my uni used wasn't dated and the individual pieces of paper had the date I actually received the results on - i.e 2006, 2005. So it probably doesn't matter too much. |

I never heard that the transcripts have got to be less than 3 months old. I think there is no expiry date on them. (if you got the degree, you got the degree.).
However I think CRC disclosure has to be less than 6 months old.
Let me say that it is great news that we won't have to pay for the notarisation. SOme lawyers were quoting me 40 pounds to sign the stupid document + VAT. Those thieving B******.
Anyway I guess the FCO must have this director of Disclosure Scotland as a recognised notary public. |
