|
|
Just wondering if everyone's schedule got better or worse now that the new school year has started...
Somehow my ex-co-teacher (gone off for English training) thought that she was doing me a favour by stacking my classes... 6 back to back on Mondays and Tuesdays (5 minute break between classes :S)... 3 on Wednesday and Friday, 4 on Thursdays...
All I can say is today has pretty much been my worst day of teaching (especially with my new co-teacher who doesn't know quite what she's doing and is being overwelmed by the kids despite my best efforts to keep them in line lol...) |

| It's great, I've spent the last 2 days doing nothing. I hope they take their time. The record is 5 days before someone gets around to creating a schedule for me. I work in a PS.. |

I've never understood this celebration of being marginalized as insignificant. Can someone help me to understand the thinking?
I get the not wanting to do more work than you feel you're being compensated for, but what is up with being so happy when your told that what you do doesn't matter? |

I think some of us realize that our efforts are futile... |

At the end of the day, I still get paid. And if they fail to notice it, I don't care. I'd do the same in any job. But, most jobs aren't this easy. |

| How could you have 6 back to back without lunch interrupting it? |

Monday - No schedule, they suddenly decided 5 minutes before class they wanted me to play a game w/ the kids for 20 minutes (I agreed because I have several games already)
Tuesday - Gave me a schedule, but then basically said this week is a wash, and just to play games for 20 minutes and then they will watch a video.
It frustrates me actually (part of why I'm not renewing my contract) that I'm so insignificant. They spent all this money on a native teacher, and they don't actually want me to teach. One teacher said that since she has fewer classes, she can only "afford" to give me 20 minutes of each class in the future... since having a native teacher is such a waste of time apparently. She also told me not to bother teaching culture, or pronunciation, because the kids won't be tested on it.
*counts down the 6 weeks remaining to the end of the contract* |

| Mine is marginally worse than last year I only have half of it so far 'cos I work at 2 schools but nothing to complain about. Although, I'm told that it could change. Also the 1st graders only arrived today so classes for me probably won't start till next week. |

They tore down the cafeteria building to make room for the new building (which they seem to be building in stages... IE: completly finishing one wing, with full interior, and then attaching more and more on to it... Boggles the mind why they wouldn't do it all at once, lol) so my school decided to have 40 minute classes with 5 minutes between each so that the kids could go home at 1:05 and have lunch there.... |

I'm very pleased with my new schedule! I really love my (Public) school, too -- I have had the best experience there.
Last semester I usually taught 5-6 classes a day save for Wednesday's heavenly short school day. Then I had 2 extra after-school classes a week.
This semester I teach 4 monday, 4 tuesday, 3 wednesday, 5 thurs and 4 friday with only 1 after school class to plan a lesson for. And if that wasn't great enough, my co-teacher speaks practically perfect English and is currently enrolled at a university to get her Masters in English - she actually wanted to be the English teacher! (Last semester's co-teacher found out she was the English teacher and cried the rest of the day).
I'm very happy. |
