i've become a little tired of the state lotto mentality of my local hairdresser. and i'm the first to admit that it's my fault. a translation of my usual conversation would be:
me: (trans from korean) please. cut. short. please. this is fun. i like short. dont like <chak chak chak> please cut. sideburns cut nothing! understand? panza! thanks.
my question: does anyone know of a decent hairdresser in inner seoul who is good with waeguk hair. pref one with good english skills.
i
know it's a stretch, but these circa 1990s britpop cuts have to go...

I had the same problem. After one visit to a barbershop ( you get a "different" service than one you get in the states), I took a korean friend to the local beauty parlor and things worked out well. |

I usually hit up the hair salons myself. The ladies usually like cutting and styling my hair for some reason.
But I heard theres a place in the COEX that caters to foreigners. Dunno where tough |

Nothing wrong with circa 1990s britpop cuts
But seriously...try taking a photo of the cut you want with you....that is what I always do |

Go to a beauty shop that looks like they have their act together. Maybe bring a picture. |

Denz, u should know how much cute Korean gals dig the Britpop!
Itaewon has plenty of hir salons that will do right by you. Or, take the time and find an ex-military barber who speaks english. i had a great one like that in Changwon.
I'm due for a trim myself. Burned out my flowbee - forgot the currency flip!!!
I wish they had a 'Sexy Scissors' here in Seoul, but most of the places come pretty close on their own . . .
Regards, good luck, & see you (&Ms. M & maybe Felix) for dinner on Sat.

I've been trying to cut my hair for years. How can you cut the back when it's so hard to see? |

If you want to cut your own hair, you can go to a special shop that sells to beauty shops and get clippers. I just bought some Japanese clippers for W60,000, complete with adapter.
Ask around at work for the Korean word for that kind of shop. |

What about hairdressers that i can trust to bleach my hair?? I don't want a brassy/heinous mess, i am quite vain. Does anyone have a trusty hairdresser that can at least speak moderate english? the hairdressers round me are scary looking. |

I can count on one hand the amount of "good" haircuts i have had in my life. With the bleaching thing, i want highlights, rather than a full-on bleach. But I have had the orange hair before, and once actually on purpose, but it is not what i want at the moment. |
