Two companies doing business English/corporate english and pay is roughly the same but pagoda dont pay accommodation except give you 100k towards it and BCM do (from their adverts on here they say they doo anyway)

so how does pagoda get away with it? Is there some other benefit to work there over BCM? what about YBM do they offer free accommodation?

Seriously, Martinpil, learn English before you come over here. I'm sorry, but your posts are really annoying me. The title of this thread makes you look really stupid.

First, are you sure it's 100k? When I was there, it was 200k then 300k after a year. Either that or a choice of 5mil key(maybe more now?) plus some things for your apt (TV, washer etc.) Obviously the allowance was the better option for those able. I worked at the main Pagoda branches of Gangnam and Jongro, not a franchise.

Second at the time, though perhaps not now, Pagoda was a pretty good place to be compared to most of the options out there. There were a lot of guys who were there 5 years plus. Not any more. I was making 2k (doing 4-5 hours a day.) up to 3.5k (working hard plus a weekend class.) That compared very well on a per hour basis to kiddie hagwons money wise and was even comparable to unis (who had less work but unmotivated students.)

Third, having your own place eliminates daytime boss visits, nasty suprises about the quality of employee digs, unwanted roommates and having to vacate suddenly should the shit hit the fan. It's worth the extra IMO.

Having said all that, if the BCM contract compares well with Pagodas, and the workers there are all happy with the situation then it may well be the better deal. Caveat emptor.

dont quite get the jibe bout learn english...I AM english...you're most prob american. there's a difference!

don't send me PMs like this anymore. the way you phrased your subject title and the way you come across on the board makes people not want to help you. if you have real questions, ask them without the "english" flourishes - (i'm not sure where you were going with the whole "differences" thing). people might be more willing to help you if they understood what you were asking.

Pagoda offers 250, or 100 and key money/furnishings.

Things were great last year, and at our branch, we all made 3-4 mill a month each, but things have really gone down the tubes with the current useless Korean economy.

Because Pagoda suck. They only pay like 2 million to experienced teachers for basically a 15-hour shift. Cause don't let the teaching hours fool you. You're on splits and that's terrible.

Bunch of tightwads.

Are you a troll? I think you must be. Anyway, there's nothing wrong with the way I worded it. If I want to make the companies sound plural by using dont instead of doesn't, I can. That's how most people would say it in the slang we all use anyway....we are always saying don't instead of doesn't. period...oops fullstop

He's trashing your general grammar ability, which I must concur, isn't very good. Being from the UK won't change that.

Sounds more like martinpil should get a college degree first. Either that or he has a helluva lawsuit against whatever school gave him a diploma. Laughing

Martin,
I'm going to have to agree with the others. A mistake here or there is acceptable, but a purposeful mistake, unless for comedic purposes is unacceptable.
We appreciate your negative tone, and understand that you represent what amounts to a negative persona in Old Great Britain, but this is Dave's ESL Cafe, and Dave's Board. We are talking about Korea, so your accent would be unacceptable, please learn American standard english before applying sir.

Thanks
