I wonder from people's personal experience which is better right now: Private school or Public school?

I might be teaching locally and the school I'm teaching in (in Canada) also has connections to public school teaching in Korea. The director of my school mentioned that going to a public school would be better stating that the pay is the same but it is generally nicer in terms of treatment and that there is more job security. He also mentioned that because of the recession there are fewer good private jobs and at the moment it's better to wait for a public school job (in august).

How accurate is what he is saying. Would it be better to accept a private school offer now or to get a local job and wait until August?

Thank you.

In my experience, there is no difference between public high schools and private high schools. Pay and other conditions were exactly the same.

If by 'private' you are referring to hakwons, then I agree they are a riskier proposition in this economic situation.

Wait it out and grab a public school job. Then, after a year, check out some reputable hagwons. Go there in person, physcially see them yourself.

Accepting a hagwon job, especially in this economic climate, is riskier than ever. Public schools is the safe bet and the job is easy and sweet.

I agree. I'd start with a public school job. Guaranteed pay, plus you can make more with after school classes. And it's easy.
