my friend hooked up with a few diff. Korean beauties he met at B1 in Itaewon. Not an awesome bar/club by any means, but the few times I've been there, there were girls coming up and trying to dance with me. |

purely in the interest of research, no doubt 
of course, itaewon... there's only one reason local girls go drinking there, and it isn't the opportunity to experience a different culture. helios, geckos, the usual places spring to mind. hongdae has become a bit like itaewon in my opinion (some koreans now take to calling it 'hongdaewon'), tinpan in particular is the go-to place for sleazing it up waygook-style.
JJs in hyatt always deserves a mention. i would say more than 50% of the people in there, both korean and foreign, are looking to hook up. unfortunately its the kind of place where status impresses people.. i did a lot better in there when i had a business card and was no longer an english teacher than when i was.
one thing that made me curse my luck was just before i left korea, a friend took me to this 'international' bar/cafe where they had some kind of party going on. i think the gist was that people go there to meet 'language exchange' partners, which as we all know, is something of a euphemism. i remember it was around hongdae but i forgot the name of the place completely. i'm sure it would be a great hunting ground and i wished i'd found it much earlier. |

OK if you want pure skanks! girls who put out after a few hours and have been around the block a few times , which are into foreigners!!
Geckos and Helios! just rememeber to cover up as these girls do get around! |

I've been to FF/Gogos twice in Hongdae and am 2 for 2 there.
Loud trashy clubs (like NB) are bad, as are bars that are almost entirely sit-down (HO bar). Tinpan is ok.
I've been to pretty much everywhere now in this point and hands down the best place on a Fri/Sat night is Monkey Beach in Apgujeong. By 2:30-3 as the crowd starts to thin out it becomes super easy to talk to just about any girl you see, and usually by that time several have already talked to you.
The problem with Korea is that too often a drunken bar hook-up ends up with a girl looking for a meaningful relationship... where as in Toronto that you don't even bother exchanging phone #'s half the time when you sneak out of her place the next day lol. I met a girl yesterday who's # I got in a club in Hongdae, her mom was there too to drive us around and to meet me. Only in Korea... |
