My old point and shoot stopped working, so I am in the market for a new camera and looking for some recommendations.

I"m looking for a point and shoot with minimum 9 megapixels and minimum 5x optical zoom. There are a lot of websites that compare different cameras, but there are some things that don't seem to be on the websites I have been checking, and I am also looking for some personal advice.

I used an SLR before I got into digital, but I"m not interested in a DSLR right now just due to the investment and size. But I am looking for a point and shoot with some more advanced features. Specifically I want to be able to adjust the aperture, or if not then adjust the depth of field in some other way. Basically I want to be able to blur the background or foreground and chose how blurry it will be. I also want to be able to choose the length of exposure.

Something else that I want is a quick start up time, and quick time between shots. I don't know how many good shots I missed with my old camera that took ages to turn on, and then ages to be ready for the next shot.

I don't want to head over to Yongsan until I have an idea of what I want, the choice there is just to overwhelming. So if anyone has some recommendations I would really appreciate it!

Cheers!

The new Canon SX1 looks amazing. $500-$600 in the States. God knows how much it will be in Korea.

It even records movies in 1080p!!

If that's too expensive then the SX10 has great features for around $400.

I also think the Panasonic Lumix FZ range are great value.

The lower spec SX10 is 414,000..........

............but the higher spec SX1 is a reasonable 620,000.....not bad for all those features.........10megapixel........20x optical zoom......1080p movie mode.....HDMI output......2.8'' widescreen LCD.....plus all the latest Canon photo tech......very tempting....
