Can anyone tell me about the Gangnam or Daechi branches? What is it like to work there? Pay ontime, etc...? Thanks.

I need to *bump* this one up.

Have a job interview with them coming up, and while I have checked the website and read the job description and think it all sounds like a really slick job (in a good way...almost like a regular school and not a "hagwan hagwan," great pay, good location and what sounds to be terrific housing) it also has my too good to be true flag sensor sounding off.
Can anyone PM me with stories about the school, your experiences with it? I'd greatly appreciate it!
Thanks!

Katy

I can vouch for everything written on their website up until 09/2001. I haven't heard any stories or rumours of them taking a disasterous turn for the worse since then so I think it's a safe bet that they're still one of the best around. Don't ask me about the Suji school as that opened after I left. Apparently they are also hiring for their new school in Vancouver Shocked (same logo but apparently the J is now for Joy rather than Jeong-Sang).

I work at JLS and can vouch for Bulsajal although I cant vouch for Bulsajals name cause I dont know what it means. Things havent changed much since he left except the hours have gone down and the salaries have risen exponentially. Sorry man. You can still marry the cute secretaries though. Class sizes rise and fall. They can go as high as thirty. Also, if you gleam great satisfaction from seeing your kids learn English and feel as though you are responsible you wont at JLS. You see them only an hour a week. If you want stellar text books you wont see those either. But theres no pressure to teach them anything specific because theyre never tested on anything you teach them. You have the freedom to what you like.

These small problems are nothing in the context of all the positive things that are too numerous to mention. Theres no better place to work. Which brings me to a slightly off topic point. Ill let you know my hogwan is good because I dont mind the word getting out. I already have a job here. If I had a great job with Samsung or something I would do the same. What are they going to take my job away from me if word gets out?

Good point dude I can't understand the paranoia some people have about losing their little niche market if word gets out. It reeks of insecurity to me.. if you have a job and you do it well, why are you worried about word getting out. I guess they don't feel they earned their job on merit and would lose it to better qualified / suitable people...

JLS is a decent school. They pay on time and even have a curriculum. I would recommend it. I think its one of the good English hogwans in Korea. Some other good schools are EG and YES Youngdo from what I've seen and heard.
