|
|
I got sick last Saturday and I haven't been able to get better.
The Korean medicine I picked up at the pharmacy seems useless.
If you know a place near Uijeongbu, that would be even more helpful.
I'm kind of thinking I may have to go all the way to Namdaemun, but I hope there's a closer place. |

Korean pharmacies don't carry immodium AD and I've never seen it on the black market either. Koreans use a little pink pill for that. You can get it at the pharmacy.
Ever notice that they don't advertise medicines on TV either? |

Two wrongs don't make a good post.
First, they carry Immodium. It's prescription. Immodium is Loperamide, and it's quite common.
Second, yes, they advertise all the same herbal voodoo crap that we have on television back home. It's not particularly common, but yeah, they do. I've seen those 5-minute between-show mininfomercials about them. |

| FYI - I had diarrhea for the first 6 months I lived in Korea. Basically I had to stop eating spicy foods and stick to rice, etc. It was nasty. Maybe you have to do the same. |

| You can go in to any pharmacy and say "Salsa" (Kword for Diarrhea) and they'll hook you up with some pink stuff in a little packet. Cheap, and works great. |

I guess now we know why Chips and Salsa aren't that big of a seller here.
Kind of reminds me of the old story about the Chevrolet Board meeting where they couldn't figure out why their new car couldn't sell in the latin market and a cleaning woman told them, "Nova means 'doesn't go' in Spanish.
I did find Immodium on the black market in Dongducheon for 10,000 a box, but it doesn't seem like a common item. I got three boxes. I figured I'd better stock up. For anyone that doesn't know that black market, it's behind the Bus Terminal and within walking distance from DongducheonJungang Station. |
