Is that bad? most PS start in march and september but i was told there are some schools hiring for june; mainly middle school and high school. I thought i would be teaching elementary but this is something different. Should i wait for fall to come or jump on this right now?
Oh, and how is the housing in ilsan? is it mostly a rural area? i want to live in a city but at the same time not live in a dump because im aware that most people dont know about their living accommodations with regards to public school positions until they actually get there...
any advice/info is greatly appreciated. |

ilsan is where most Koreans and FTs want to be.
Depends on what you like. The area is very urbanized with lots of public transit around the city and into Seoul. Also, planned parks with many, many cookie-cutter apartments. |

I understand that's where that microbrewery called, "Rosenbrau," is located so you'll have access to a nice place to go out on weekends. While this post is not about beer, Rosenbrau is said to have a German brewer on site and is where the drinkable beer is to be found.
Ilsan is also a city that must offer everything else you could possibly need so it must be a decent place to live. I wish I had positioned myself closer to Seoul such as a place like Ilsan or even Chuncheon. |

If they are hiring for June, that probably just means that at some point they had a teacher leave in May and thus all their new teachers have started and finished in June. I'd be more worried if they said "we need someone right now who is not lazy!" because then you'd probably be replacing a quitter.
Do you research, try and talk to current/past teachers, but it doesn't ring any alarm bells for me. |
