Looking to invest in a bicycle (mountain or racer) and wondering if anyone has any for sale. Or knows of a great place with good selection.

I'm just under 6 feet and weigh about 170 so I need something that can support me.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Don't have one for sale. But I know of two very good shops.

1. Bike Nara at Hapjeong subway station (exit 5). The owner speaks pretty good English and they have a very good selection of mountain bikes, folding bikes, and accessories (with a few road bikes scattered throughout).

2. Trek Bicycle Store at Yeoksam subway station (exit 6, turn left and walk about 10 minutes). Decent prices, nice staff, some speak a bit of English. If you need large cycling shoes, then this is the place to go (they have up to Euro size 49).

MIght as well throw in:

Camel Bikes in Namyangju. Kind of out of the way for most people but the owner, Bob, is a good friend, educated in the 'States and offers great service. His shop is small and his stock isn't good but he'll order just about anything you want or need from Korea or 'Stateside as necessary. Several Dave's posters have visited the shop and most seem quite pleased with what they got.

Also, I have a 2007 Transition Trail-or-Park that's for sale. Only come in one size and currently rigged for downhill with Spynergy FR wheels and most of a Shimano SLX drive train. Has horizontal dropouts so you can single speed it if you want.

Thanks for the links.

I'm new to the biking scene so I'm not 100% sure what I should be looking for. I researched the Transition and that's not my scene. Thanks though.

The more I think about it the more I lean towards a hard tail, street/trail bike. Basically for weekly commutes to work and then weekend play. I heard and have seen that prices are high in Korea. Any seasoned pros have suggestions for me.

Thanks again for the help.

You can get a basic hybrid for 250,000. I wouldn't spend much more than that on a first bike. Just make sure that it fits you well. That's more important than pretty much anything else. Saddle dimensions and reach to the handlebars are pretty important.

Google Sheldon Brown for information on pretty much anything you need to know.

If you're going to be riding on paved surfaces mainly, invest in a pair of slicks to replace the knobby tires with. This will easily give you a 20% boost in speed.

It's also really nice to have a folding bike in town. I'm building one up for myself non-geeky-like so I have something I can put on the train and bus between trips.

They've got all the big brands here, just understand that due to the completely fucked up distribution system here that you'll be paying a lot of middle-man tax.

Also, unless you rarely ride your bike, avoid most of the Korean brands. Elfama is okay, but I wouldn't touch any Corex or Lespo bikes.

I have a bike I am throwing up for sale!

I was about to advertise on a new thread, but if your interested, let me know.

It's a blue Lespo, 19 inch frame which should fit you perfectly. I am 6ft 4 and it was a little small for me as all bikes in Korea.

It hasd 24 gears and I have only owned it since the end of summer 2008 so it's only seen a little bit of use. No rust or wear what so ever.

It's a mix between a mountain bike and a road bike but is good overall.
I dont know how serious you are, but it's certainly not a serious bike for pros.

I think I paid around 260,000 for it so I would be willing to let it go for around 150 or so.

Email me at [email protected] if your interested.
