|
|
Going back to Canada in August and want to take my PC and monitor with me.
Right now I'm thinking that I will take my computer apart and put everything into static bags and pack it in my suitcase. Just buy a new case when I get to Canada.
As for the LCD monitor...I have the original box so I was thinking about just taking it as carry on.
Otherwise...is it possible to pack a LCD into a suitcase?
Any help would be amazingly greatly appreciated.
Thanks |

The price for air freight is prohibitive and the time needed for regular freight means that I'm without a PC for 2 months. |

If you're not bringing a lot of other luggage, then I would just stuff the inside of the PC with newspaper or packing material, box it up, do the same with the monitor, and check in both of them...........depends what the weight allowances are with your airline.
Then you'll be up and running in no time when you get home. |

When I came I had the luxery of many suitcases. I packed my desktop (it's small) in one suitcase. (padded well) and put my two 19" lcd monitors in a 2nd suitcase. I told check-in to put fragile stickers on them and all was well when I arrived |

I was thinking of taking my monitor back with me to the UK. It's a 22inch LCD and I have the original box with the styrofoam. If I get pay the extra baggage allowance, check it in and have them put a fragile sticker on it, do you think I'd get it back in one piece at the other end? |

There was a post while back about a guy taking his 32 inch LCD TV back home with him. He took it to the freight shipping at the airport. It's located at the far right of the build in departure level. He said it didn't cost him much to take it on the plane or something like that. |

Hey Dazzed,
Thanks for the reply. I used the search function but it didn't come up with the thread you referred to. Can you by any chance remember the posters username?
If anyone else knows what the deal is with air freight could they let me know.
I'm wondering if it would make more sense just to sell it here and buy a new monitor when I get home. I really like this monitor (HP 22' W2207H) though and it sells around $400 in the UK.
Much appreciated. |

Sorry It was at least couple months since I've seen the post. From what I could remember was he took the TV in a Taxi (yeah crazy sob LOL) anyways, i think he wrote that it costed him like 30-50 bucks. Sorry, I can't get anymore specific. |
