Hi there, hoping someone can clarify a few things for me...
So my current situation is that I am at a hagwon that is paying the staff late or not at all. Already two staff members have quit over it, and I'm thinking it would be best for me to leave as well.
I am on an E2 visa, and this is my fourth month. I plan on giving my two months notice, which would bring me to the six month mark.
I would definately like to remain in Korea though, so I'd like to know how to make that happen. I called immigration and they said that if I get a
letter of release, then I can work at a public school or a uni, but if I want to work at a hagwon again, I'd have to do the visa run.
So since I'll probably work at a hagwon, then I guess a visa run is the only option? ...I read on here that I could just go to immigration and ask for an exit order...and then do the visa run within 30 days. But, the person at immi said I must come with my employer.
Is this true? Can I not just go there alone and ask for the exit order?
Thanks for any help! |

I've never been able to figure out exactly what you have to do. At one point, I thought you just needed a LOR for whatever job (hagwon, university, whatever). But then that also has a lot to do with what person you get at what Immigration place because they rarely ever say the same thing.
I have the EXACT same situation (same timing, too) with no pay and teachers quitting left and right at my school. I've pretty much resigned myself to just looking for a job outside of the country, and when I land one, I'm gone. If they pay me regularly before that, then I'll stick it out. If not, this mess really isn't worth it anymore. The job wasn't all that great to begin with.
I've given up on trying to figure out how to stay in Korea without sacrificing a goat or something stupid like that. |

BUT...
What about the CRC and transcipts. They have a noose around our neck.
I am in a hick town, no offence to those who like them, and I want to give notice and move to Seoul.
