I don't know how they're finding me, but every time I have my Skype running, I get text messages advertising adult sites and cyber sex. I like to have my Skype running to receive calls and messages from people I know. Robot is at a loss on how they're penetrating systems. I believe they are bots, automated software generated message's, because they don't respond when I tell them to screw off and leave people alone. I also receive many phone calls from people all around the world who are trying to meet someone to have an online relationship with which doesn't interest me.

How do I put a stop to this? How are they finding me?

I know you can set the privacy settings to only allow those in your contacts, but what if someone who is not a spammer wants to contact me?

Thanx in advance.

You answered your own question. Set your privacy setting to accept calls from only those you know. Also, set you little icon to busy or not available...it's green but doesn't say online.

Let your friends or family know that if they see that, you are available. If someone wants to contact you, e-mail each other and give them your skype name. Then add it to your contacts list. Done.

If you want people ringing you up all hours of the night, then ignore my basic advice. I had this problem for months before I figured out how to put a stop to it. Haven't had an unwanted call for over a year now.
