I've been to Japan a couple times and noticed a few differences, namely the seemingly crooked legs that Japanese women have and the way they walk. And more crooked teeth over there.

Her explanation for the former is that in the old days the elites walked like penguins and so today people, unbelievably or not, do the same. I simply don't trust that generations later, people walk this crooked way to give the impression that they're elite. It seemed to me, and I've reserved judgment (but don't completely dispense with my own observations), that Japanese women have especially crooked legs.

She's never been to Japan.

LOL so true.

I was an exchange student at Kansai Gaidai in fall '06, so I know EXACTLY what you're talking about. I mean, it was tragic seeing how some of the girls walked in heels there. My friends and I called it the pigeon strut.

She also has this thing against Chinese people. I've never met someone so openly against another race.

Obviously, you don't know what you're talking about because, unlike her, you have some observational experience. Smile

I said crooked legs might be genetic and she then flew off the handle.

Just look at all the old bow legged people in South Korea.

I often wonder why this is so. Is it because they were carried on their parent's backs when they were young? Or is it because of some vitamin deficiency when they were younger?

You have to remember that this isn't really a first world country, and was a third world country not long ago. There are a lot of people who have suffered malnutrition throughout much of their life. I also don't think native Korean food and Oriental medicine help much, either.

I'd like to know about the crooked teeth. And they always seem to be very white teeth, so it's not for lack of care.

A guy I know who's been in Tokyo for ten years told me the knee problem is the result of their sitting posture, how they basically kneel all the time. Probably makes for good posture though. It's a very noticeable difference from legs on girls over here.

My gf told me that when she was in middle school,
it was common for most Korean girls to imitate that J-walk because they thought Japan was cool. I'm glad it didn't stick.

Wow, your girlfriend sounds like she has a hair trigger, OP Laughing

I think one reason for the girls walking that way in heels is that they weren't ever taught how to walk in them. Other theories I've heard include: it's attractive to Japanese guys, it's from wearing kimonos (which doesn't make sense to me since they wear them maybe a few days out of their lfie), and... I forget the others.

I think driving on the wrong side of the street causes death to get crooked.
