| Hey, how recent does your Criminal Background Check need to be? I'm gonna be moving to Korea from Thailand in a couple of months and I've got a background check from November 2007. I was wondering if I'm gonna need a new one. Thanks for the help |

Generally speaking, Korean immigration will not accept a background check that is older than 6 months. This includes if you have been employed and moving to a new place. This rule has changed a bit in the last year, so someone else might have new information to post. However, if you are looking at 2007 as your last one, you will probably need a new one, even if you have not returned to your home country during that time.
I vaguely recall someone posting that immigration was giving people who have not returned to their home country since their arrival in Korea a little bit of a break on this, but again, I don't remember where I saw it. |
