I'm gonna be teaching in Korea in about 1 month. I was just wondering if any of you have seen or are currently watching a TV show called " Most Extreme Elimination Challenge"? Maybe it's not aired in Korea. Anyways, I think it's based out of Tokyo as an obsticle course challenge type show. Great fun, but American TV has taken the show and dubbed it with fill in voices for the players. The show , I must admit, can be funny as shit, but it's also racist as I'll get out. The dubbed voices are always suggesting sexual conotations, and the whole theme emphasizes our little racist attides about Asian people as funny little clumsy figures to be laughed at.

My concern is that if they are airing this show in Korea, it kinda looks bad on us. I'm sure there are Asians that watch the show that are highly offended. I don't want to be a minority in an Asian culture that is being exposed to this show.

Please, someone, tell me they are familiar with the show and that they don't air it over there in Korea........

Tanx

Never seen the show in Korea. Never even heard of it.

If it was on Korean tv, I think it would be dubbed in Korean. It isn't on AFKN.

I saw the show when I was at home over Christmas. You're right, it's god damn hilarious. And racist. And sexist. And homophobic. And francophobic. And fatist. I cut it some slack because they make fun of pretty much everyone, equally.

I think they used a Japanese game show because it's bizare and not something we'd see every day, and cause it's probably pretty cheap.

I haven't seen it here.

That show is really funny.. it is a little racist and sexist but its on spike tv, you can't expect much more from such a network. The characters like guy leduche, vic romano, and kenny blankenship are hilarious.. and of course it's always funny watching people wipe out like that.

I am not sure that Koreans, who still wear "black face" to impersonate blacks will necessarily be offended by it.

Nor are they particularly likely to be offended by anything that insults the Japanese.

I once voided an entire parakeet, cage and all. Man, that left a mark.

The show it's based on is "Takeshi's Castle" by Tokyo Productions (I think) and the dubs are random improvisations, not translations. I've started getting into this show because it is appallingly hilarious.
