OK so I arrived in Korea a blimp and now i'm not so much a blimp, but still big. Size 40 pants (39 actually). All of my clothes desperately need to be replaced as they are baggy. My pants, shirts etc... The big clothes markets in busan sell all "gothic" or "gangsta" clothes, not my style. Where is a good, reasonable priced taylor in Busan or Pohang that can make some shirts and dress pants, jeans for me? I'm ready to spend the coin so speak up!!!!! I'm sick of looking like a walking tent for people to sleep in. Shocked

I don't know about shops... however another possible option for you would be to get your current clothes tailored/taken in.

Almost any laundry shop that fixes clothes should be able to do it, as long as it's not tooooo major. You don't have to be able to speak korean, just wear your clothes, and practice your charades skills. Also they will usually tell you if it will look bad, or not work well.

Just a possible 2nd option for ya, if you can't find any non-gangsta shops Very Happy

Yah that's an option. But after 17 months my clothes are kind of rough, but it's a consideration! Thanks!

I always buy new pants when I arrive home, but I didn't purchase a new pair of jeans, and now my jeans have holes in somewhat bad places. haha

You can get some clothes made in Itaewon -- and they sell some larger shirts too. Try the stores around the Itaewon underground market (McDonalds area).

Yea, I see few clothes I'd wear or want to wear. No Dockers and high quality button down shirts. Hadn't seen any real Polos either, but it's still too early for those.

Seen all these cheap and I mean really cheap quality clothes at Emart and small shops that must be China's bottom of the barrel lots. In Korea, you either wear cheap ratty casual clothes or you wear nice shiny suits. The shine is a bit much and the fabrics are too thin as well them being quite pricey.

All we need is Dockers, button down shirts, decent shoes that last like Timberlands or Doc Martins and if you reall want to dress up a little, a knecktie. I have 2 pairs Dockers, 4 shirts, and 4 Fruit of the Loom whities, but find I would like 2 more pairs of pants, 4 more shirts, and 4 more cotton fruit of the loom.

Anyone tell me where the local Macy's and Dillar's department stores are? (OK, I'm being really silly) Anyone tell me where pants are sold in configurations like 36X31? I'm seeing kaki light fabric dress pants sold in inches and cenitmeter waists, but no inseam lengths. The waist sizes tend to run snug or smallish from label size. You can get them shortened, but this still leaves the legs too large and not tailered down to correct proportion.

At least they sell RAM upgrades and servos, becuase I'm blowing those out like crazy. Hey robots got to cover up too. Wink

OP, you can go to Namdaemoon market in Seoul where I seen American Levi jeans for sale in large sizes, you can get them, but you can't try them on as it's outdoors in the middle of a street. I'm betting everything is available in Seoul if you now where to look or just get lucky.

I was just in Itaewon the other week looking for clothes. Can't say I was impressed. I did get many offers to tailor a suit. But I was looking for jeans and decent shirts and found nothing appealing. I'll have to check out this underground market you speak of next time I'm there.

Depends on where you are shopping. Most of what I've been seeing are things that make me wince like $120 neckties and $2300 office chairs. I forgot to pack any shirts, so I've been buying them here. Some brands are more expensive than they should be (I have trouble wrapping my mind around $70 Gap shirts), and some are priced somewhat similarly to the U.S. (like Polo and Banana Republic). I have to slow down my shopping as I've been spending way too much lately. Looks like I might have to wire in more money. Sad

There's a reasonably nice shop (nice = big) in the Russian street area in Busan. I don't know the name of it. Russian street is only two blocks long so it wouldn't be hard to find. If you buy two pairs of pants, the nice lady will give you a pair of socks.

You can buy some stuff online from G Market, but you can never tell the real size or fit, or the quality.
