I'm a Canadian (Victoria, BC) male starting in Changneyong as soon as I get my E2.

I think I'm fairly well prepared and the contract seems good (it's with the Superintendent of Changnyeong-gun in Gyeongsangnam-do Provincial Office of Education). I'm wondering two things:
1) What is Changnyeong like? (I know it's small and near Bukok Hawaii hotsprings); and,
2) What I should bring? (other than my clothes and a years supply of deodorant).

Any information on Changnyeong or thoughts on things you wish you had brought with you would be appreciated. Shocked

Very very rural so get ready for the Korean experience...

You will be stopped and looked at all the time so get used to that...

In saying that if you want the Korean experience it would be a good place to live...just expect some small town minds as it is nothing like the west...

I'll be teaching at the English Village in Changnyeong - run by 'Professor' Richard and his wife Suzi - which I believe is affiliated with Changyung Gongup High School.

Getting ready for a rather rural Korean experience!

It has a cool mountain behind the city called Hwawangsan which has a big bonfire every October which is pretty cool.....I went a couple of years ago

PM cruise monkey and yu bum suk directly. They can clue you in.

The area is beautiful. One of the prettiest in the country. Very rural. It's about an hour south of Daegu and north of Masan/Changwon. 'Small town' does not begin to describe it. Bright spots: the swamp down the road in Youngsan and the little town that is the Mecca of public baths in the whole country. Don't miss the life-size plastic statue of Elvis on mainstreet.

Suggestion:

Make a new thread with their names in the title...

They both post pretty often so they should see it. If the post slides down to the second page before they reply, just 'bump' the thread back to the top by typing in 'bump' in a new post.

They'll be around sooner or later.
