I just got the below air cleaner second hand. There was no filter fitted to it so I ordered one from gmarket. The problem is that I'm not sure is fitted correctly as there seems to be the same amount of weekly dust accumulating in my small apt. The filter is white with a black course mesh fitted to it. Also, they provided some thin white sheets of filter paper with it as well. Currently, I have the black part fitted to the back portion of the unit closest to the exhaust fan with the white side pointed out (visible) then I have a thin sheet of the throw away "paper" part on top of the filter with the plastic part that goes over the filter at the front over that...make any sense? If anyone has this type of filter I hope you can respond with some advice. I think it's fitted correctly but why all the dust?

Turn the filter around. I have the same unit. The black side is supposed to be facing out. That's the charcoal side. Put your paper piece over that, and then the big plastic front.
What you're doing is the opposite, and you're probably blowing charcoal dust out into your apartment!
Air cleaners remove the really fine dust -- not the larger pieces which fall straight down. You still need to dust and clean your home. |

| I thought so...thanks bass! That seems much better. No worry's w/ dust my wife cleans daily and we do a full clean Sunday mornings. I kinda thought I had it in backwards. |

| Change the papers and wash the pre-filter every several weeks when needed. We buy our filters from www.oclaire.co.kr . We have to call the guy and tell him what unit we have. I did something stupid and figured I'd try not using the paper filters this time. It clogged my filter up with crap, and reduced life by over 70%. Need to get a new one. |

Filters are useless. If you want clean air, buy an air-washer. Have two of them in my home and WHAT A DIFFERENCE they make during bad dust days... (I spin rollers indoors with no problems at all).

Been looking at one of those at Costco and Homeplus for about 260,000 won. We grew up with a very large version of that in the home. It had a porous blanket on a belt that would dip into the water and back out again. A fan would blow air on it. It serves as a humidifier, too.
The thing that's been holding me back on getting an air washer are all of the negative notes on Amazon about cleaning them. Here is an example:
