Korean 'Warcraft III' Player Inks Record-Setting Deal

Hey kids, the next time your parents tell you some variant of "playing video games is a waste of time," tell them about this blog post you read on TheFeed.

A South Korean gamer named Jae Ho "Moon" Jang has signed a contract with the WeMade FOX Warcraft III team that is worth a cool $500,000. Yes, let me repeat that $500,000.

The contract officially makes Moon the highest paid player in the Warcraft III arena; and the second highest paid player in the Korean e-Sports scene. Apparently, no one has informed Korea that the global economy is in the dumper. Someone should send them an email.

In the meantime, Moon is committed to bringing home as many Warcraft III trophies for his country as he can, saying, "I am honored to play for a Korea[n] professional gaming team for Koreans. As setting good circumstance of playing, I will give everything to my fans and FOX team by winning lots of titles in 2009."

When the world is experiencing what can only be described as a major economic panic, do you think big contracts for sports stars are a good idea? I'm not just talking specifically about video games, I mean all professional sports. Do you think it looks bad to dish out cash for something that is, technically, frivolous? Or do you think it's important to keep people entertained while their retirement funds are drained by Wall Street butt heads?

Hey kids, the next time your parents tell you that some newspaper reporter is taking short cuts and using one of the most overused sentences in newspaper reporting, like "Hey kids the next time your parents tell you playing video games is a waste of time" tell them about this response you read here that says every newspaper reporter in the world has used this line whenever talking about professional video game players.
