any suggestions for a quasi beginner to do some jogging here? I'm now up to doing 2-3 miles 3x/week on the treadmill at around a 11-12 minute mile (yeah i know not world class speed but hey i'm in my 40s and a little overweight) so with the weather getting better i want to try other things outside

i'm not even sure where there are tracks i do know about the path along the han but anywhere else near hbc?

thanks

Namsan has a great 3km soft track ideal for jogging and running. One end of the track starts behind the National Theater.
It also has great cherry blossoms Smile

its the city, why would u need a track?

just run around ur town, thats what i do. and the view will always change.

if ur concerened about distance and such, get one of those step counters.

but coming from a fitness nut, u should'nt really worry about distance and time and all that. run till it hurts, then walk till u catch ur breath, then run till it hurts again. eventually u will be able to run longer and faster than before.

just doing the running is more important that where u do it. even more important is WHEN u run. if ur doing it for fat loss, then first thing in the morning BEFORE u eat anything. that way ur body immediately starts burning its fat reserves for fuel. but only for 45 mins, after that u start burning muscle tissue. other great time is at the end of the work out, same reason, theres nothing in ur stomach so u go strait to ur fat reserves. this time only for 30 mins though, as not to start eating that muscle tissue u just got done pumping up.

if u just have to have a track, the han river has one on each side that stretches for miles. unless ur out in the boonies, everyone is close to some part of the river.

What does "hogwonguy1979" mean? Odd that you would have 1979 in your name if you're in your 40's... Shocked

Some elementary schools have soft tracks round their playing fields too.
Our local school normally has up tp 10 joggers/power-walkers on a good evening. The soft foam is a great for weak knees, until tough enough for the streets.
For the streets, you should do your legsand feet a favour by buying a quality pair of running shoes.

river path?

i ride the river path on my bike which nearly traverses seoul from end to end. an added benefit is that if you get really tired and don't feel like making the return trip you can jump on any number of subway stations along the route and go home.

I second the river - no smelly diesel right in your grill and usually there is a nice breeze ( cooler ) when the weather is warmer. Also there are some great places to do stairs if you are into that kind of suffering ( I am )
