I'm interested to know what it's like down there. Have been offered a job there, but from what I've read so far (one old thread about a 22 year old who wanted out of his contract due to loneliness....) it's pretty isolated.
Hubby and me don't really mind it being a bit on the boring side as we could do with saving up a bit, but there are some other things that I'd like to know. So, if anybody's down there, please let me know so I can bombard you with all my Q's! Nah, it's not that many, promise!!!
TIA, D |

Hamyang has some nice Hanoks (trad. korean houses).
And it's really close to Jirisan, which is a great national park.
Also fairly close to the coast. Some good beaches down there.
As far as the big cities go, I would say it was an hour from Gwangju, and 2 or 3 hours from Busan?
Sorry, I don't live there, I just visited last summer, so I can't help you much. Small korean towns like that are all fairly similar. Great if you can make your own fun/bring your own friends. Since you are a couple I'd say go for it. |

Thanks for your reply. We're seriously considering moving there. Just wish we could go have a look, but we're out of the country right now - between contracts. Thanks anyhow. |

I spent a year there. I would not recommend the Hamyang Middle Girls School. PM me for details.
"Also fairly close to the coast"??? It's an hour to Jinju, or 2 hours to Daegu. Neither are close to the coast. You change busses in Jinju, for Changwon & Masan. (Another couple of hours). Those latter 2, are near the coast.

an hour from Gwangju |
More like 2 hours, via Namwon & highway 12.
