I have found an ESL position with a hagwon that seems like a pretty good match for me. My only hesitation is that the school is located in Mokdong which I have not been able to find too much information on.

Is this a nice area (e.g. close to shops, entertainment, food, etc.)?

Thanks in advance for your opinions!

Emily

I have been there once, I was considering moving there. It's nice, out of the way of the busy parts of Seoul. I don't think you will go wrong there, assuming the hagwon is good.

Personally, I prefer living in the southwestern part so I can travel further south when I want and still have access to Seoul. However, if you want to spend most of your time in Seoul, I would consider it worth living there for a year or so. The prices might also be better than Gangnam or Bundang.

I've lived there.

It is an absolutely fine neighborhood. 8 out of 10.

Quite a few hagwons there: CDI, Youngdo, WILS, among others. So there is pressure to retain students more than elsewhere. If they don't like it, they will go. Parents in wealthy suburbs like Mokdong have a lot of choices and options.
