|
|
I paid a chunk of cash to get a "better" printer, and the piece of crap is already dying on me.
The print heads in this model are not user-serviceable. I am out of warranty. The black head prints light streaks through the text every few lines (not every line). I've cleaned the heads using the automatic software at least a dozen times... tried printing a full black page as an ink dump... no luck. Still the same problem.
This will be my last HP printer I purchase. Never again. I have yet to have one that will last more than 1 1/2 years.
It seems I will now need to pay service for an entire new print head, which may cost as much as a new machine. |

The crazy thing about inkjet printers is that 3 ink cartridges cost the same as a new printer.
You can get an inkjet printer for 90,000. Cartridges are approx 25,000 each.
Unless you get one of those external ink well things.......inkjets will break your heart with their consumable prices.
My Epson printer-scanner works well......but the cartridges are an obivous shatfing. |

I have the external ink wells.
Of course, HP will claim that's why I have the problem in the first place. |

the print heads are not serviceable, but you can easily replace the entire cartridge--for 4 bucks on my Epson. |

Well, yeah, I don't actually pay anything for my cartridges......my wife gets them for free through her work!!
But, if you went to Homeplus or Hi-mart, they're really expensive.
I had an HP printer a few years ago which ran out of ink soon after I bought it. It took 3 cartridges which were quite expensive. Almost 30,000. The printer actually only cost 90,000. So I could have thrown away the new printer, bought another one with 3 fresh cartridges already in it, and not have spent any more money!! Stupid!! |

| The last printer I bought actually broke from lack of use (who knew that was possible?). I don't think I'll ever buy one again. |

Older HP's had print heads in the cartridges... if they print head became clogged, a new cartridge would take care of the problem. With this newer printer, the print head is part of the printer. Replacing the cartridges does nothing.
I'll bet you a new print head will be almost the cost of a printer. |

| I have the 6280 with extenal ink. It has been heavily used and it's fine except the build quality seems flimsy to me, especially the scanner lid thing. |
