I'm buying my first desktop and am surprised that they don't seem to come with... anything, basically- no keyboard, no mouse, no monitor... wtf??

Anyway, I'm wondering if anyone knows how much a decent flat screen monitor is... I'm not too picky, and I definitely don't mind buying a used one, but I do want a flat screen- doesn't need to be very big.

Thanks!

Most people are buying widescreens nowadays.

21'' from about 200,000

22'' (most common size being sold right now) from about 280,000

24'' (great for HD movies) from around 350,000.

The more trusted brands are Samsung, LG, Dell, HP, Viewsonic, BenQ.........

God DAMN... that's as much as the frigging computer I'm buying!!

Maybe I'll rethink this purchase... seems like it adds up to almost as much as buying a laptop, if you have to buy it part by part...

A laptop piece by piece is a lot more than you think especially if you think it'll run you as little as 560,000 (280,000 x 2) for all of the components. Do yourself a favor and buy a quality monitor. A mouse & keyboard are dirt cheap these days you shouldn't spend too much on getting either unless you want them to be wireless then the price is a little higher. For a flat screen monitor I wouldn't settle for anything less than 19" but I would suggest at least a 20" capable of doing at least 1680x1050.

If you're having your desktop built from scratch then they generally don't come with a keyboard or a mouse unless you specifically ask for one. The same could be said for a monitor.

If you are ordering your desktop from Dell, HP, Compaq, etc. then they should come with a keyboard and a mouse by default. At times and depending on model ordered they will bundle a monitor as well.

Please tell me you consulted a number of people first before wildly buying or having a machine built for you.

I don't think 280,000 is a lot for a 22'' widescreen monitor.

If you are daunted by buying the CPU, monitor and other bit and bobs separately, then you should just go to a Joyoontech store and buy a complete system.
