I'm wondering if anyone can tell me how long it takes to complete the process of obtaining the CRC document when applied for through the federal or provincial law enforcement agencies in Canada. I have to return to Canada in order to apply for a new visa. I hope I don't have to wait for three to four months again as I did when I applied the last time from overseas. Thanks. |

You do not have to go back home to apply for a CRC (with VSS check). I applied while in Korea and it was completed in the 10 days they original said it would take. I got it mailed to my parents house for my folks to bring to the local embassy (Ottawa) to get notorized. They mailed it to me and I hand it in my hands within about 4-5 weeks.
Where do you live? What agency will you be applying to? You know that different cities have different requirements for applying for a CRC. You can apply to any city regardless of where you live. If your hometown won't process a CRC without you being in front of them, go through a different city. South Korea only requires that the CRC done in Ontario or Manitoba if I remember correctly. Finally, I don't think the RoK cares about your CRC, they just want to see the VSS clearance.
Good luck,

Hi, Ryan. The last time I applied for the CRC/VSS was through the RCMP while I was teaching in Korea. That was in December 2007. I received the document 3 months later. Now I have to leave the country by the 28th anyway, since my stay will expire on that day. In Toronto I'll go to the OPP office. It may take just a week or two to complete everything. Thanks for your reply. |

Good to hear. I just wanted to make sure you weren't making a needless trip across the globe because you thought you had to.
Enjoy your time home,
