I hear that I have three taxes that are deducted from my pay. I believe they are Pension, Medical and resident. I do not have any Korean tax taken out. What are the exact percentages for each that are deducted? What does the resident tax cover? I also heard medical may be going up, is this true? Thanks for any help that you can provide. |

I've always been under the impression that residence tax was 10% of your income tax. If you are not paying korean income tax, are you working for a public school (if not, you should be paying korean income tax, and it means your employer is crooking the books, so be very wary).
Regarding the other 2. You pay half of pension and medical, so for pension the amount is 9% (you pay 4.5%) and medical it is 5.08%(you pay 2.54%, this amount has changed recently, so i may be out...but only by a few decimal points)> |

I will be working for a public school and I am a US citizen. I thought the medical percent is going up? |
