Based on some of the recent nightmare stories about working at public schools, do you feel it is wise to stay at the same school, forever?

Until I reach the highest payscale with GEPIK, I feel this may be my approach. Laughing

Forever? I know you're lazy, but don't you have any ambition?

My pay will go up from 2.1 to 2.3 for the next contract. For the following contract it may go up to 2.5, based on a poster's understanding of the new GEPIK contract.

So, for as long as there are improvements in each contract, I'd like to stay put. My current work conditions, with the new co-teacher are a real improvement.

I have no paperwork/lesson plans to prepare. Last year, I had to do something for every lesson. I call that ambitious (my aim to do as little as possible, while I receive more benefits). Laughing

The problem with uni is they seem to offer less pay and unimpressive housing.

GEPIK has a pay scale, I can't push for more than that.

My new co-teacher is good, she asks me to do nothing but teach. I like it like that. Laughing

I'm not 100% sure, but I feel the exchange rate will improve eventually.

I would never work at a hagwan. Some private school jobs sound okay, but I prefer public schools. I like to be a government employee. It feels more secure.

While most intro university jobs do pay less and offer little to no housing, they make up for it by giving more vacation (1-3 months) and mostly a 4 day work schedule.

Pay your dues for a year or two there than get a better one with your experience. That's my plan.

I thought you were planning on leaving after your current contract ends.

You may not have the choice of staying at your school "forever"... Many EPIK teachers are getting transferred after 2 years at the same school.. (think I posted this before not long ago)...
