Hey guys I have a question for anyone who knows something about HDTVs. Recently I bought an XCanvas 42 in. tv. I have my PS3 wired through an HDMI cable. Two weeks ago I downloaded Street Fighter II Turbo off of the playstation network; I haven't really played too much in the past 2 weeks, maybe two hours a week in total. I've noticed though that when there is a bright light in the background of the tv (weather I'm watching a movie or playing a game) I can still see the image of the fighter's name up in the corner, like their healthbar and picture stuff. Is this game ruining my tv? Is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening, and is it permanent? Will it also happen with Street Fighter IV, which I am getting soon? Any information would help a lot, thanks.

If you had looked at the two links then you would realise that it is only the first 100 hours which is the sensitive period.

To get rid of the burn in for the op run some static for a little while, it probably has a built in anti burn in thingee

Yes, if you are over the 100 hour mark don't worry about it. New Plasma TV's don't burn in unless they are severely abused.

I've even read somewhere that CRTs are actually much more susceptible to burn in, so if you wouldn't worry about the game on a CRT you needn't worry about it on a plasma.

The ghosting will go away a little while after you play your game. Ghosting is not burn-in. Burn in is permanent damage caused by hours of a static image being displayed, such as flight numbers at an airport.

I have a plasma for two years and have had no problems playing Wii or watching letter-boxed movies. Mariokart leaves ghosts, but never longer than a couple of minutes.

Yea I see what you mean. The ghost image is not there after the tv has been off, and to be honest you can't see it unless the screen is completely white. It also did it with Tekken, but I don't play those games for longer than an hour or two at a time, so it should be ok. I just have to break it in a little bit more I guess Smile. Thanks again for your replies!
