According to Chosun Ilbo, on 18th Mar, from 11am to 2pm, a Candian 20s young man kept asking a sales girl in a cookie shop in Changcheong Dong to marry him.

The young guy walked into the shop at ~11am that morning, and approached the girl while choosing chocolate, he told her, I desire you so much, please marry me.

The guy left the shop at noon, after the shocked sales girl's request for him calling off his behavior, 10 min later, the Canaidan reappeared with a platinum ring.

The frightened girl called police later, in the police station, the young guy recieved an investigation and he confessed he fell in love with the girl at the first sight.

The police said the man used to work as an ESL teacher in Korea in 2006 and now is jobless. They described him 1.80M tall, not handsome but not scary either.

Yes, it sounds a joke, but it could be more than that:

Actually the first impression I got after I read the news is:

The cookie shop paid the guy to act......

I can imagine it will soon become a favorable street gossip and curious people will keep going to the shop to check out the girl. Laughing and go back home with lots of chocolate and cookies.

What a successful spin~!

With all the crap with Korean guys thinking all white girls are from Russia and prostitutes. This is what they print. Give me a break. Oh how much are the cookies? If I have a platinum ring can I get them for free?

Ha. That's a good one.

I forget who it was, but a female poster on here had a Korean guy stalking her, and the police response was, "Maybe he truly loves you."

He may not be scary looking, but he's sure scary acting. It is not within what I consider the normal range of behavior for someone to run out and buy a platinum ring for a total stranger just because she appeals to you.

Bass,

The sad part (as you may know) is police won't often do much about stalkers. At my school we have a Korean male stalker that likes to talk to the female foreign teachers. As many times as the police and campus security have been notified, nothing really happens. Now, I haven't heard anything recently, but it wouldn't surprise me if this guy shows up again.

Have you done any podcasts on this subject?
