|
|
I want to buy a 29inch flat screen TV. I have been looking at LG and Samsung models that cost about 400,000 won.
Which company makes the better TV?
I want to plug in a DVD and some surround sound speakers.
Is there anything I should be aware of when shopping for the TV?
Any suggestions on the speakers?
Cheers,

I think he means a flat tube, not a plasma or LCD screen. |

I own a 29" Samsung Flat Tube that I really like. It was 1 million won new, but I snagged it off of Koreahearld.com from North Viet woman leaving Seoul for about 375,000. It's got the funky woofer-speakers in the back that have great sound. Got lucky on that one. It was only 5 months old.
Samsung and LG are going to be pretty similar, although I like Samsung TVs better. It comes down to the one that has the features and options that you want for the money. I've looked at a lot of TVs lately (thought about upgrading mine, but decided I don't want to spend the money yet). I am always impressed by the Anam brand also. I had not heard of it, but some of the pictures seem to look pretty good on those TVs, for the money.
I thought I saw a Samsung model that was similar, with woofers in the top/back, although a little "watered down" in the feature area. People are going for the bigger DLP projection TVs in many cases, so the cost of some other TVs like mine has dropped. Maybe that new "watered-down" version of mine was around that 400,000 won mark.
Even at 1 million, mine didn't have any way to plug speakers in -- it has only inputs, and not outputs that I can see. It has it's own internal 5.1-type setup, with front, rear, and built-in sub.
3 moves later, I can tell you that it's been an albatross to move, but I like it a lot. |
