Ok, so I know there's a really outside chance of anyone knowing of where I could do this. But, does anyone know of somewhere I could learn Vietnamese in the Seoul area? Ilsan would be excellent. Thanks. Also are there any Vietnamese communities in Seoul? Any AUTHENTIC Vietnamese restaurants?

Not heard of any VN language schools here but would be interested to know if there are also.

or you could do a language exchange with the Vietnamese students at one of the Universities like Sogang/Yonsei/SNU etc?

don't know if this helps

You could possibly sign up for classes at Hanguk school of Foreign studies. Google their website.

Why do you care man. Posts like this are so stupid. Almost as bad as the "Korean is a useless language" posts. (Ironic considering the people who call Korean useless are the people who would benifit the most from learning it.)

Maybe he just wants to learn Vietnamese. I have a friend that learned Slovakian. Is he a dumbass? No he's gawd damn brilliant, he speaks Slovakian (and 4 other languages).

So maybe you're content with being ignorant, but there's no need to "lol" at anyone for wanting learn anything.

Are you viet?

I'm Vietnamese-American. I also live in Seoul. And I'm fluent.

There are lots of Vietnamese factory workers up in northern Gyeonggi-do. I was pestered by them a lot when I lived in Pocheon. They always wanted free English lessons. There's a big Viet community in Songuri (northern gyeonggi), but that mainly consists of factory workers and mail order brides.

And no, there are no authentic vietnamese restaurants in Korea. Well, I haven't looked too hard so maybe there is.

He said he is Viet-American, I would think he's a native English speaker.

Now finding a job at a hagwon because he is Asian is another story...

Optik is right. I am vietnamese-american...therefore I am a native speaker. However, I am not a he but rather a she Very Happy

I've always worked in the public school system, so my ethnicity has never been an issue. I know a few vietnamese-canadians/australians/etc that work at hogwans as well. I don't know whether it was difficult for them, but it proobbabbly was.
