I was wondering what the process is for a Foreigner that wants to attend a University in Korea?

My Korean friends tell me there is a entrance exam, but they believe its a different test for foreigners.

I've already have my BS from the States. And my Korean language is above average, but I dont plan to apply for at least a year.

a friend of mine is studying for his BA at Yonsei and only had to do a entrance exam which was pretty straight forward and easy. I think that's all he had to do. Mind, his course is taught completely in English (which I assume is your case too!).

Also you should apply for a scholarship. Not easy but easier to get as a foreign student here. I think he gets 50% off his course fees.

Most Korean universities do not require an entrance exam unless you are entering as an undergraduate.

Some universities are more strict about giving scholarships than others. Korea university offers scholarships to students (university scholarships for keeping high GPA, while Yonsei (at least as far as I saw in the past) did not show on their website that they offered scholarships other than the outside governmental agencies and other outside groups. I do know some people get scholarships at Yonsei anyway, but based on the info on their website, only the NIIED, and a few others are available. Many other universities will give 50-100% scholarships across the board to all foreign students regardless of their GPA, particularly westerners.

Other than that, entrance is pretty typical - Application, study plan, cover letter, academic records, etc.

Also if you are not from a native English speaking country, you must show a TOEIC or some other form of English proficiency score. If you plan to take some of the classes in Korean, you must also either submit a TOPIK score (usually the mid-level test) or take a Korean proficiency test given by the university.
