It's cherry blossom time!
I know Jinhae is supposed to be a great place to see them. Anyone have any advice?
Is there anywhere else that might have a few less people than Jinhae?
Thanks! |

I lived in Jinhae for 2 years and indeed it is the place to see them. You may have trouble finding accomodations in Jinhae proper but you can stay in changwon or masan and get a bus or cab over fairly easy. I would go early in the day as in the afternoon the tunnels into the city get backed up and its an unholy pain to get into the city then. I recommend having a cab take you Parkland-uh, its a crappy amusement park in town but right next to it is a wonderful duck joint and from their you can walk down to the festival on great board walk type thing along a creek lined with cherry blossums. There are some nice hiking paths surrounding the city as well. |

Thanks for the info! It sounds good.
I'd love to have a "party" where we can sit under the trees and bring our own food and booze (i.e. a Japanese style hanami.) Do people do that? |

Hm, well there is a look out tower/observation post on a hill that you can see most of the city from that has a park at its base that would be good for that. Its hard to miss. Also if you go down to the ocean there is a big pagoda type structure on the harbor that is real popular for that (not many trees near it) BUT it has a family mart right there that is PERFECT for boozing and people watching. I may set up shop myself there that weekend. |

Yeah I was told they are just about to bloom right after this rain passes. My co-teacher said the festival in Jinae is on the 27th. Anyone from around this area want to meet up for this?
I'm in Changwon, by the way. |

Its a couple week thing so you can go during the week as well and avoid the crowds. |

Would anyone reckon this can be done as a day trip? Or a weekend thing?
Thanks |

It was definitely too cold in the North today as it was nearly freezing cold with Winter wind. One of the last blasts of Winter. It's cold tonight. Too cold still yet for flowers, but some green grasses came up when it warmed up over the weekend. And the dead brown world is almost ready to liven up with more color and easier mornings not so brutally joint aching cold. |

If you got here in the morning/early afternoon you could head around the city and then enjoy the actual festival at night and leave early enough to catch a bus back without missing anything life changing. |
