CNN had a bit about a swarm of quakes in California. Found this online:

Seismologists say Salton Sea earthquake swarm increases risk of major incident on San Andreas Fault

By MARK MUCKENFUSS
The Press-Enterprise

A magnitude 4.8 earthquake Tuesday morning got the attention not only of the residents near the Salton Sea, but also of many seismologists, some of whom say it raises the possibility of a major quake on the San Andreas Fault.

Tuesday's temblor, which struck at 4:55 a.m., was the largest of a cluster of earthquakes that began Saturday near Salton Sea's Bombay Beach. The region has had similar activity in the past, but scientists say these earthquakes demand greater attention because of their proximity to the southern tip of the state's major fault.

"There are events happening right up against the San Andreas Fault," said Thomas H. Jordan, director of the Southern California Earthquake Center at USC. And because earthquakes can trigger other earthquake

It's interesting to just type in the word "earthquake" into google news. There's stuff going on all over the world. And it's normal. But there's always the chance of something quite out of the ordinary, a small chance, but a real one. Same goes for volcanoes.

One thing's for sure: the U.S. cannot afford a major natural disaster right now.

The economy is bad in the US right now, but not so bad that we can not bail out a disaster area. Somalia can not afford a major catastrophe at this point. The U.S. can and will.

Think of all the money we are spending on the war"s".

Hope it doesn't happen, but I know it probably will.... maybe tomorrow, maybe not tomorrow, someday. What'sthe joke about buying Arizona land because it will be coastal property one day?
