I've heard of a couple of people doing this, but if I come over as a teacher and box professionally (5 times a year), would I get in trouble with my school?

Call immigration and see what you'd have to do for it to be legit. Trouble? They might think it was cool... big strong teacha... if they're not cool with it I'd find a different school...

I'd go into MMA but yea...

I remember reading a post from a guy who fought amateur thai boxing fights...

I would love to get one or two amateur muay thai fights while im in korea. Going pro is not realistic for me...

how long have you been boxing?

Looks like teaching English to Korean kids is a great starting point to a career in professional boxing.

I remember a Canadian living in Ilsan fought an amateur fight a few years ago. I think you can be a pro boxer if you want, just make sure you clear things up with immigration.

Between preparing lesson plans and teaching class, how many hours per day might you have available for training?

Thanks guys,

I've been training in boxing for 3 years and I have a few amateur fights, I thought about fighting amateur in Korea but I want to get paid, it kinda sucks training so hard and putting so much risk in the ring for free. Don't get me wrong I\m not putting down people fighting in the amateurs, but its easier to be an amateur at a younger age (I'm 25).

I might start fighting amateur in Korea to test the waters, then if I do well I'll dive into the pros.

For planning a schedule, I was going to do most of my training in the morning before classes, then go for a run before going to bed.

I got first place in the Seoul amateur boxing tournament earlier this year. If you've been training consistently for 3 years then you should do fine (on paper). I've beeing training off and on for four years and I thought I sucked but then I won the whole thing. The national level tourneys are a different story however. My trainer thinks I can hang with lower level professional guys. So I can do it, I don't see why you can't. Boxing in Korea isn't on the same level as the US.
