I have browsed the requirements for getting an E-2 visa. I don't need all the documents now, but I want to be prepared should I get a teaching job in Korea.
The most difficult part will be the CBC. I am currently searching around my city for fingerprinting services but have yet to find one. Once I gather the required documents for the CBC, I know that I will need to have the docs notarized by someone in my state and have my Secretary of State in California attach the apostille.
I am wondering if anyone else has had this experience applying for jobs in Korea while still in Japan. I wish I could just get a CBC from the city I live in instead of using the one from the US. Oh well. At least the Korean consulate is next to my place of work |

there is a service in New York state- they handle everything for those, and it gets done pretty fast too!
I had a friend looking into getting his done, and he's from Michigan- and what they say on the news is true- EVERYTHING is bankrupt there!
he figured when they told him it would take two months for a background check from the state, and another two months for the apost. from the same state....
he found this site: http://apostille.us/
looks like they do this intl. businesses in NY.... costs enough, but if youre overseas, and dont have the time or help back home, comes in handy. overseas shipping is extra, but isnt everything? |

Thanks for the link. I will keep it handy. I just saw the price tag for getting the apostille for CBC with regular shipping: $343
I think I will try the more arduous route first. But then again, I may be able to recoup that money back when I petition the Japanese government to give me back my pension money at the end of my contract. |
