Just a quick question here.
If you want to work another year with your school, do you need to get another criminal and health check done?
Sorry, I tried the search function but it wasn't working.
Thanks for the help! |

Sorry for bumping.
I've been trying to find answers for a while now, still no luck. The Korean immigration webpage wasn't much help.
Anyways, any help would be appreciated.
Thanks |

I had to have a both a new criminal check and a health check, but I re-signed with a GEPIC school.
The CRC that I used last year was an "online" one, though - otherwise I probably just needed the new health check (which included tests for HIV and drugs)
The call number (02-26506399) listed on the www.hikorea.go.kr website may be your best bet to get specific help. |

I extended as well with a GEPIK school, and I was told to have a CBC and a health check. Now there was some confusion as to what stamps and seals I needed on the CBC, but I def. needed one. Check this thread from Dave's: Is There One Simple Answer?
There are two posters who without providing any firsthand experience say you don't need the CBC and health check documents, but from what I've experienced and what immi's website says here, Extension of E-2 Visa Description, you will need to get a CBC and a health check.
The health check can be done at any general hospital here in Korea. Here's a thread on that: Medical Exam Cost Comparison.
EDIT: Ontheway explains the situation more in the thread posted above. It does seem possible. Perhaps a roll of the dice, but still...possible.

I just re-signed - no CBC required. Had to get the health check though. As if I'm gonna get HIV while in Korea eh! |

I would think for re-signing, a crime check in North America, etc would be useless, since for the past year you've been in Korea!
they can check with their local police, no? |

No I didnt do a health check last year so i had to get one done again, you have to go to immi with copies of the contracts some other forms that the school sort out, passport, arc. I'm not 100 percent sure if you need another health check, but I don't think you do; you need to check this. |

As a rule, if you came in under the "new laws" (which I did), you don't need to do any of that again. If you came in under the "old laws" you will need to bring yourself into compliance with the new ones. |

In relation To Crc's:
Most hogwan teachers will have to. Most teachers in public schools where their pay comes from the local city will have to.
Two teachers can be in the same town and working for epic but one gets paid by the provincial office of education and the other by the city. The office of education paid teacher will not need need a new Crc.
If you switch from a hogwan to a public school you will need one.
All people will need a medical each year except for rare cases.
All teachers from B.C. or Northern New South Wales will need a daily thc test.

The rare case is for anyone who is dead. It's true: if you die while in SK, you do not need a medical to renew.

Can't speak for NSW, but 98% of everyone from BC is a pothead. SK only wants that elusive 2%.

The criteria for being exempt from having to supply a CRC when obtaining an extension of stay on an E-2 visa is that you were invited by the Ministry of Education.
In otherwords, If you obtained your E-2 with a 'Letter of Appointment' from the Ministry (and not a 'visa number'), you are exempt from providing another CRC should you renew your contract. |

Just a little update.
My co-worker just called the number given on the Hi Korea web page.
Here's what we were told
If you are extending your E-2 visa, and you submitted a health check and criminal check for your current E-2 visa, that you don't need to provide them again.
This is good news...so far. I will be going to immigration soon. I will be sure to post again to let people know how it went. |
