If you were gonna have a boy in Korea, would you get a frank and beans picture of him?
Sure, it's part of Korean culture.

No, it's old fashioned and your son will hate you.

Help me out people. I'm gonna have a baby boy in a couple of months and he'll be half Korean. Should I go for it and get one of those traditional Korean pictures where the baby is naked and baring it all to everyone?

To those who have sons here, did you do it or is it one of those traditions that should be ignored?

Do you go to a professional photographer to get this?

As far as I know, candid shots of naked babies or very young children also exist in America but I haven't heard of someone going to a professional photographer for this.

Nevermind pictures, I saw a photo recently of one of those baby-hand-and-foot-print-in-plaster things that had the frank and beans imprinted too. Talk about embarassing... can you imagine if your parents had that hanging on the wall in the living room?

I have a son but we never even thought about the photo. I pondered more on the circumcision.

Actually I've only seen them in shop windows but never in anyone's house.

Is this a tradition in your husband's family, ie. does your husband have one of his own hanging around? Wink

Yeah, it's a professional thing. You can see one in Itaewon next to Steff's hotdog's. I've asked my co-workers about this thing and they say that everyone still does it.

Saw one of those things last month. Pretty nasty. The strange thing though is now that I am going to be a mom I feel like getting all of the cute naked pictures, frank and bean imprints even though I know my kid will hate it. It must be a parent thing.

I see. I'd say it's a personal decision but I probably wouldn't mind either way. If the decision were left up to me, I wouldn't have it done. If my wife wanted it, I wouldn't object.

I guess the question is, would it be missed if you didn't do it? Fortunately, when my son was a baby, we still lived in the States, so we didn't have to worry about it. I'm not so sure we would have done it anyway. If someone asks, just say, "Yeah, we're going to get that done," and then, by the time he's a teen, say, "Oops, too late!" Very Happy
