I don't get this bin bag thing. I get the recycling just fine, I participate wholly in the recycling thing, but why in the name of god does it matter what kind of bag you put the stuff you cant recycle in? Why does it matter what it says on it, and what colour it is, if by virtue of the fact that it isn't in the recycling bin, it obviously is stuff that can't be recycled?
These are the questions I have.
The 'building committee' is giving me grief about kitty litter. If I put it in a black bag, it should be in a white bag. If I put it in the official bag, I should have put it in a black bag. They tell me to just flush it, which is retarded advice, then they tell me to just not give it to them. I continue to put it down there, of course, and someone takes to opening the bag and spreading it all over the grassy area next to the recycling hut ( I see you, building adjosshi). Who gets told off for it? Moi.
I mean come on. There has to be more to life than freaking out about the colour of the bin bag I put kitty litter in. There really does. |

I used to put the litter in a normal plastic bag, or black bag, whatever, not one of the official ones. Then I would put it in an official general waste bag along with anything else that goes in there. Not sure if that is the right way to do things but nobody had a problem with me, probably because when it is like that you can't tell it is cat litter. |

Nope. Sorry, there isn't.
Man has gone from a naked filthy beast catching small furry animals with his bare hands and eating them alive, to trapping the waste of those same animals in scientifically developed clay granules. It's almost worshipful. |

the bin bags pay for the trash collection. instead of paying an annual flat rate fee for trash pick up regardless of how much you waste, you only have to pay for the amount you throw out. more liter=more bags=more money.
of course you could just do what i did and put everything in regular bags. there were soo many people in my neighborhood that they would never be able to tell who was doing it. |

basically - they told you correctly..
anything that is unhygenic (used-condoms, tampons/pads, kitty/dog litter, etc etc) should be placed in a black bag and then the black bag is placed into the official bag).
Even if they (including trash-grandmothers) open your official bag looking for stuff - they will not open the black bag that is inside your official bag - because this is for "unhygenic" trash.
Just keep your black bags when you buy stuff from corner or MomnPop stores and put anything you don't want anybody to see in the black bag - then place it in your official bag with the rest of the garbage. |

We bag up our kitty litter in any spare bag we have around, then rush out to the food dumpster in the dark and dump it quickly. |

That's retarded, because they already charge us a fee for trash collection, that's added onto the maintenance fee. If the bags cover that fee, who the feck am I paying with the separate fee? The freaking adjosshi outside who has nothing better to do than watch the lift cctv for whenever I'm taking anything out, most likely
It's not a new problem, ever since we moved into this Evervill complex it's been one thing or another they have issue with. I'm really not about to start freaking out over it, because I'm almost out of here. It just seems unendingly pointless of them to continue to bother me just for taking out some kitty litter. The whole thing makes no sense to me. |

I use all my kitty litter as wadding in the pipe bomb collection I'm amassing, for when the Norks come.
Good thread title btw. |
