|
|
I want to plan a nice weekend for me and my boyfriend in Seoul next month. No special reason, just want to do something different and memorable.
I figure a nice hotel, some nice restaurants, massages (real massages), a show such as Nanta, maybe a museum or Seoul tower. You get the idea.
So why am I sharing this with you?
Well, I would like some suggestions of really neat stuff to do in Seoul. A great show you've seen? A decent, not-too-expensive hotel? A museum or exhibit that's a little different? We don't have that much time left here so we want to do and see some really memorable things before we leave. Please share your ideas and experiences! |

I would recommend delicies in itaewon as a really nice place to eat, kind of an upmarket cafe type thing and the food is nice. It's about 400meters up the road from bk so it's a bit removed from the bar scene.
If its not too cold walk around olympic park, the art there is really cool. |

Cats is playing in Seoul, with an Australian cast. Not too sure of the prices, but meant to be really good. If you can get tix.... its in town till the 8th of Feb I think.
There is also a really nice restaurant at the Grand Intercontinental Hotel called the Australian Grill. They have Australian seafood and beef imported specially for the restaurant, great food and not too expensive. But on the more expensive side of dining. |

If you like Thai food, my favourite restaurant in all of Korea is Thai Orchid in Itaewon. A little expensive, maybe 25 000 each with no holding back, but it's utterly memorable. Great service and atmosphere too. |

Thanks. I absolutely LOVE Thai food!!! I've never been to the Thai Orchid, but I've been to Pattaya several times and it's definitely one of my favorite restaurants in all of Korea!
RE: Cats. A friend went to see it. He said it was all right. Tickets range from about 40-120,000won. I'm considering it. I really want to see Nanta I think, and tickets are way cheaper! |

Welcome to Nanta
By all means go up namsan (take the cable car) but don't bother with the Seoul Tower itself. If you absolutely must go up Seoul Tower don't bother seeing the extras such as the rock museum, the 'aquarium' or 'Funny World'. |

forget the cable car..........walk up through namsan park and up to the tower, beautiful gardens and trees within the big city. Also takes about an hour. Lots of good canoodiling places for you and your boy too.
as for places to stay, i know its a way out but try some of the places recommended in the thread "bathtub for two"

I saw Nanta - not really my thing though. They are okay.
If cats is playing at the Arts Center in Kwanghwamoon - well I found those seats to be slightly uncomfortable. So if you are bigger than the average Korean...think about it.
If you waited until spring I would suggest the HanRiver cruise.
About what show to see...guess that is up to your personal tastes. However if you really want a good time, don't worry about the cash.
A year or so ago I saw Les Miserables here in Seoul, cost me 120,000 for each ticket, but was TOTALLY worth it. |

Visit "Chang Duk" Palace if you haven't already. It costs 2000won if I remember right and is guided in english. An hour of planned but educative and entertaining stroll in the palace complex was a great souvenir even for a Seoulite like myself.
If you want western food I recommend "Top Cloud" in Jong Ro. It's on the 33rd floor of the new National Tax Administration building. Ate their brunch on Sunday at noon a couple of times. The celection of the buffet(for entree and dessert) isn't huge but considering the quality of the food and the VIEW(!) I think the price(27,000won a person) is decent. The first time I enterned the toilet, I was just WOW. |

Loyd,
The naked arse is probably a naked Pink Floyd groupie. The male face in the picture is Syd Barrett, founder of Pink Floyd. He wrote the song "Crazy Diamond".
Am I correct Howard? |

Kim's Massage in Itaewon is good for couples. Not technically the best massage, but good atmosphere and good for couples. |

Crazy Diamond? Do you mean Shine on You Crazy Diamond off Dark Side of the Moon? The song is based on his brief life. Written by Roger Waters unless I'm mistaken.
Find out soon enough... |

Quite right. That picture is from a photo shoot for the Syb Barrett album "Madcap Laughs". My old avatar, if anyone remembers, with the big feet in the foreground, was also Syb Barrett from the same shoot. The naked girl was in the background on that one too but easy to miss. |
