I'm not offended by the term at all, I'm just curious how long a person has to be in Korea before they are no longer considered a newb.

the correct spelling is n-o-o-b. it's reminiscent of "boob."

Time spent in Korea often means little.

I've met teachers who have been here for years and are still clueless about Koreans, Korea, the ESL job scene, teaching etc....

You're only a newbie if you feel like one. Why you want other people to judge you who knows.

Yeah me too. I remember getting drunk with this Irish dude and he wanted to fill up my whiskey flask with soju to drink in the cab on the way home. Good times. Razz

If you've come here this year or last, then you're a newbie.

If you still talk about how many PC rooms there are, you're a newbie.

If you talk about back home with other foreigners you just meet, you are a newbie.

If you don't know what Dokdo is and who Rain is, then you are a newbie.

If you have never been to Seoul nor Busan nor Jeju, then you are a newbie.
