In the past, economic periods of difficulty have accompanied or resulted in the conditions(social and political) of war. What are the storm clouds that you think can predict a world war in this age? |

Just a few things that I think could lead to increased tension:
-Russia wanting to rebuild their military
-North Korea's imminent missile/satellite launch in April
-aging of world leaders and the pending ideology changes of certain countries
-the failing global economy
oh, and the possibility of Korea and Japan being in the same Group in the 2010 World Cup - if Korea loses to Japan in that event we better start running for the embassies |

There are people dying in the wars every minute on this planet, but I highly doubt the possibility of a world war.
1, Superpower countries (including EU) are smart enough to avoid fighting at home. If there was any local war, Africa and mid-east would be a battle field.
2, North Korea is trying to follow China, Kim Il knows he is too stupid ( also too ill) to rule the country and he sees what a mess he has made, but he doesnt want to destroy the country either and still wants to give a hope to others.
3, Economy is always the reason for wars, but I wish there wont be any douche bag any more in the world trying to boost national economy by provoking a war. |

someone should tell gwb number 3- hard to believe he was the first American pres with an MBA, and so many bragged about what a great job he'd do with the economy back in 2000...
then I think back to the SNL skit with Will Ferrell as W giving his first state of the union speech, asking the timeless question, "Who knew the great lakes could catch fire like that?" almost pre-cognitive as to what a mess he was leading the country... and the world to... |
