So, who bought dollars at 1500 thinking it'd go down more?

I bought won at 1500. I'll make money off of it.

Me too--it was a bargain. I think the won will hit 1100 by summer.

That would be nice. Then I could actually buy a new notebook in the USA and feel OK about it.

I had no choice but to buy dollars on March 11th at 1500 - if I could've waited it would've been nice, but whatever - might transfer some more home pretty soon

I actually pullled a risky stunt by paying off my student loans with credit cards...

The interest is killer but at the same time, better judgement was telling me that the interest on my credit card would never exceed the loss I'm taking on exchanging to the won.

So I held off my student loans and I'm awaiting a 1100 won to the dollar ratio again.

And with this optimistic exchange now, I'm glad, but who knows. it could very well skyrocket to 3000 won to a dollar.

Nope, I bought dollars at around 1300. I bought back won when it was around 1600. I got a cheap trip to Costco out of the deal.

the longer you can wait the better. It's not a question of 'if' with the dollar, it's when...

Google.

You should check the website of whichever bank you use. It will have the remittance rate which is what you would be trading at.

Expect two things to happen now that trillions of dollars have been printed.

In 2010 or sooner

1. The dollar will crash - make more of something and it loses value.

2. Hyper-inflation - Your dollar won't buy you much. It's bad news for anyone with savings. Low interest rates and now goverments are printing money out of thin air. The same money those of us are older worked dead hard to make now just printed.

i was actually going to borrow $10,000 US (at a really low interest rate) and buy won with it, or basically just throw it into my account back home, and withdraw it here on an intl. bank account. the fee would be minimal... then i'd send it back to my account when the won got stronger.

but as was the case, the financial institution pulled the loan offer when the shit hit the fan back home. oh well... no gain no loss, i have other money making plans in effect.
