Can't find the thread on this.
Going to Japan at the start of May, do I need to book an appointment at immigration (Daegu) to get a re-entry permit? Or can I just turn up?
Also, do they open on weekends? And do English people really not have to pay?!
And, how much time does it take to get it sorted at the airport the day you go? I have an early flight so This probably won't be the best way.
Cheers! |

Is this just a vacation for the long weekend holiday? Re-entry permits at the airport shouldn't take more than 10-20 minutes, but count on 30 if its busy. Go to immigration before you check in as they won't check you in until you have the re-entry permit. I can't recall the exact cost but it is something like 20 or 30 thousand Won.
You don't need an appointment.
If you can go to an Immigration office beforehand (since you're flight is early) that would be better. It will save extra hassle at the airport. Depending on nationality, and passport expiry, you may be able to buy a multiple re-entry permit, but those are only available at the Immigration offices in your area, not at the airport. |
