I have this problem in Flash objects--maps on Korean websites, for example. Any quick fix? |

It's probably a little absurd how grateful I am. That problem's been driving me nuts for three years.

You need to swing by here more often. That question gets answered about once a month. |

Any way to make this default? I find I have to do it anew each time I encounter the dreaded gibberish. |

No its supposed to auto-detect. If you make it default and then go to a page which uses a different encoding, that one will be broken.
Some websites aren't coded properly and sometimes the browser does whatever the hell it wants. Sometimes if it didn't detect the encoding, refreshing will be enough for it to detect it and display it properly. |
