Yes, on guided tours, but it is not easy nor cheap. Even Americans can go. Try http://www.koryogroup.com/

As far as i know, Americans can only go to DPRK during the arirang game which i believe are august 1st through september 30th this year, and it used to be pretty difficult.

but i do think that you can go to keasong and mt. kumgang (just across the border) from south korea.

not sure if this is fact, it may have changed!!

Yeah, go to NK on an absurdly over-priced tour. That way your money will go to supporting KJI's lascivious lifestyle as well as the Nork troops who have their weapons pointed at the South. Great idea.

Wait until the despicable regime falls and is replaced by something less disgusting, THEN travel to NK. Any non-Korean going on these tours is moral retard.

It's difficult to disagree with this. See: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ms4NIB6xroc

Very moving video. All 1 hour and 6 minutes of it. Sort of like a page turner. I literally couldn't stop watching it. Thanks for the link michaelambling.

This is precisely why I won't go to North Korea. KJI won't get one red cent from me if I can help it.

Anyone contemplating going to North Korea should be ashamed of themselves. South Koreans and Westerners alike.

calm the hell down guys!!

visiting north korea on a tour is not supporting that evil regieme you talk about. if people were to take that approach then we should not visit
Cuba, Myanmar, Iran, etc... etc....

give me a break...

by going to north korea on a short over priced tour is hardly going to fed the million troop army KJI has!

Im going to go to North Korea! probably this year or the next!
I don't care how my money is spent! because Im sure what ever they were going to spend it on my 3 million won is not the matter of getting it or not!

I consider it a privilege to visit the North, one of the only countries which can not be visited so easily! pretty much you need to be invited.

Its not like you buy a return ticket and it ends up being a one way ticket and they never let you leave!

how many tourists actually go into North Korea every year???
not enough to support the army believe me...

Traveling to NK does not delay its demise. It will collapse or succeed based on other factors, whether 1 million people go a year or 0.

So you are going to N. Korea to feel special. So you can tell people that you went and they will think "what a trippy guy! he must have lived quite the life!" because really, why the *beep* would anyone in their right mind spend that much to go to a shit hole other than to gloat about the fact that they have been.

Very very sad.

I'm disappointed in your naivet and insensitivity. If you think Cuba and Myranmar are as bad as North Korea, you surely don't have all of the facts.

Yep. It's all about bragging rights isn't it Itaewonguy? Look at me, I'm special. I went to North Korea! Your attitude is as selfish as can be.

Anyone who travels to North Korea on any tour is supporting and extending the misery and suffering of the North Korean people. Period.

I have never been to Cuba or Myanmar and I never plan to go until those brutal regimes fall. My principles are the same in those cases.

I don't see the attraction.

From all reports the food sucks, the nightlife is terrible and the guides will only show a succession of monuments.

Definitely one destination that's only good for bragging rights.

I won't go visit the N-Kimberlies because I'd have to buy a smaller lens for my camera - 135 mm is the limit (mine goes to 200 mm). I guess they're afraid I might catch the Great Leader 'off guard' and picking his nose on the billion to one chance he'd appear in public where I was being herded around by my 'minders'.

Besides, for W3,000,000 I can fly to, and live like a king in Bali for two months.
