Hey folks, I had a hard time sussing this out via searches, so bear with me:

I am on an E2 visa and currently working for a hagwon that is mistreating me (surprise), yet some of the esl vets around me have mentioned that it's no longer possible to obtain a release, move around on foot to negotiate a new job, and then have them issue me a second visa.

What's the skinny on this? What are my options at this point?

many thanks

Hogwash I say! If you can't get a letter, than go to immigration and demand an exit order. This will cancel your visa and you will have I think 30 days to leave the country. Go to Japan, find a new job and presto, back in marvelous Kimchi Land you go!
